Blizzard 2011

At about 9 pm we watched our tree uproot itself.
That old 40 ft pine was no match for the 60 mi/hr winds!
Aaron is on the phone with our electric company.

At this point, the tree is balanced against our power lines.
Aaron is on his way around the block,
through the thunder and lightning,
to alert our backdoor neighbors.
If that tree falls, it will land on their house and we will all loose power.
YIKES!

By 7:30 am we had around 16 inches of new snow
and still blizzard conditions.
Aaron spent close to 2 hours snow blowing our driveway.

The drifts around our house reached 5 ft in some places,
almost covering our lawn furniture.
Poor Chloe needed a trail shoveled to get out the door.

As you can see behind the abominable snowman,
the tree got stuck in the power lines
so we never lost power or cable/phone.

Owen and I stayed inside to make a big breakfast for everyone
and do some art work!

Three hours later, it was time to clear more snow.

But first some serious sledding!

Help, I'm stuck Mama...
Mama...
MA!!

Even Chloe came out to enjoy the snow.

By 1 pm the snow had tapered off.
21 inches in 21 hours!

That little snowblower really got a workout!
So did Aaron!

Eyelash icicles!
